Stephen McKenna: Perspectives of Europe 1980 – 2014

Perspectives of Europe 1980 – 2014 is Stephen McKenna’s largest museum solo presentation of his landscapes in over a decade. The exhibition takes you through his responses to living and travelling in a number of countries, against a backdrop of changing European politics and culture in Portugal, Italy, Spain, Germany, England and Ireland.

Stephen McKenna

Stephen McKenna was born in London in 1939. He enrolled at the Slade School of Art in 1959 and studied there until 1964. He has lived and worked throughout Europe since the 1960’s, spending time in Belgium, Germany and Italy. He was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 1986. Currently McKenna is based in County Carlow, Ireland. His career has spanned over six decades, during this time he has held numerous influential solo exhibitions and his works have featured in group exhibitions in Europe and the USA.
