A Celebration of 10 Years

11 February 2017 12:00 pm - 11 February 2017 4:00 pm

A decade after mima opened its doors, we welcome all to remember and celebrate the friendships, ideas and experiences we have shared. Join us for our birthday bash which includes tours, performances, making workshops and a communal lunch.

This party marks the launch of a new, permanent display of the Middlesbrough Collection. An array of pieces from the town’s collection of modern and contemporary art and craft which have been selected by the gallery’s users, constituent groups, visitors and staff.

Like the display, this day features contributions from many of our constituent groups. Those who have selected artworks for the Middlesbrough Collection display give short introductions throughout the day.

Members of mini mima, our under-fives group, host a special Art Trolley with activities for children. Streetwise Opera, who work with those who have experienced homelessness, perform a medley of pieces. Students from Teesside University’s Dance programme air a short new piece in response to the collection.

All are invited to join us and help to celebrate.  Our schedule for the day is as follows:
