Judith Winter: Curation as Correspondence: Un-learning with the Bauhaus

Tuesday 17 May, 2.00pm - 5.00pm

This workshop explores the philosophy of the Bauhaus, the German avant-garde art school known for its functionalist approach to creative practice (founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar in 1919, it operated until 1932). It traces how modernism grew in the United Kingdom during the 1930s under the Bauhaus influence and considers how its experimental approach may still be relevant in the twenty first century.

Judith Winter is a curator who has worked both within and beyond the gallery context in various English and Scottish organisations. Most recently she has been part of Knowing from the Inside, a project at the University of Aberdeen that explores the conjunctions between anthropology and creative practice.  Her current research revisits the ethos and pedagogic principles of the Bauhaus.
