Art from Elsewhere

19 June 2015 - 27 September 2015

Mohamed Bourouissa, La Reflet MED

Art from Elsewhere’ is an exhibition that explores different realities of profound global change. It brings together some of the most important artists working today both based in the West and in other regions from around the world. Highlights include Yto Barrada, Yael Bartana, Shilpa Gupta, Meschac Gaba, and Mohamed Bourouissa.

Realities of global change

The show features works made in a variety of media that examine questions of trade and exchange, urban and international migration, frontiers and failed utopias. Topical issues that these works address include life in conflict zones, oppressive government regimes, the advent of capitalism and post-colonial experiences.

‘Art from Elsewhere’ is a Hayward Touring exhibition supported by the Art Fund. The selected works were drawn from the collections of mima and five other museums from across the UK by internationally renowned curator David Elliott.
