Education is at the heart of mima’s mission and our sessions explore learning through making and critical thinking with a Philosphy for Children framework. Each of our programmes intersects with different subjects and open opportunities for cross-disciplinary learning.  Our programmes are tailored for the ages and needs of every group.

Using the gallery spaces and a bespoke education space, we develop individual thinking around the work of artists, as well develop language, discussion, and observational skills, in turn developing positive experiences for all participants.

We offer sessions in the gallery as well as opportunities for us to visit you in your school or college. We also offer teachers inspired learning experiences through CPD (Continual Professional Days) and regular tactile events.

22 October 2016 – 12 February 2017 – visit on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 10.00am – 2.30pm

Taking inspiration from our current exhibition, Winifred Nicholson, Liberation of Colour, your pupils will explore the artist’s life and work through still life, landscapes and portraits. We will reflect on her extensive travels and experience as a female artist and mother working from the 1920s to 1980s. Pupils will discover and use traditional and experimental drawing techniques to investigate shape, form, line and colour with a focus on still life.
