The team aims to enhance visitors’ experiences and encourage participation and discussion by providing a wide range of fun and exciting learning opportunities.

The school programme consists of interactive half-day sessions that can be adapted to suit the needs of a particular group, ranging from 3 to 18 year olds. The aim is to connect young people as closely as possible to the works on display, to develop visual and language skills, and to inspire confidence and familiarity within the gallery space.

Reaching out to the wider public, mima’s family programme includes fun weekly sessions for the under 4s, free Saturday afternoon family tours and activities, and regular school holiday programmes. Public talks are linked to each new exhibition, as well as more informal weekly guided tours and ten minute gallery talks. There are also regular adult courses that tie into the exhibitions on display.
